The woman who accused BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff of sexual assault has withdrawn her civil case against him and paperwork has been filed to end the case, ESPN's Kyle Bonagura and Pete Thamel reported on Monday (June 30).

"The parties, by & through their counsel of record, hereby stipulate, agree, & jointly move the Court to dismiss with prejudice and upon the merits the Plaintiff’s complaint against the Defendant, w/ each party to bear his or its own attorney’s fees," the joint motion to dismiss obtained and shared by Bonagura on his X account states.

The dismissal came hours after Retzlaff announced his intention to transfer from BYU after admitting to having premarital sex, which violated the school's honor code and would've led to a seven-game suspension to start the 2025 college football season. Retzlaff made the admission in response to the civil lawsuit, denying the allegations of sexual assault and claiming the encounter was consensual.

“Mr. Retzlaff specifically and categorically denies each and every and all allegations that he bit, raped or strangled AG, which are ridiculous and bizarre allegations, all of which are false and untrue,” his attorney said in part on Friday (June 27) via the New York Post. Retzlaff took over as the Cougars' full-time starting quarterback in 2024, throwing for 2,947 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 213 of 368 passing, while also recording 417 yards and six touchdowns on 100 rushing attempts and leading BYU to an 11-2 record (7-2 Big 12).
