Proposed Law Targets Illegal Dumping In Delaware

(Dover, DE) -- A proposed law in Delaware is targeting illegal dumping. Senate Bill 5 would slap offenders with a hefty fine and community service. Illegal dumping currently falls under the same statute as littering, which can carry a 50 dollar fine and eight hours of service. The new offense would carry a minimum fine of 500 dollars and one-thousand dollars for subsequent offenses. Under the proposal, money collected would be used to fund law enforcement investigations on illegal dumping.
