Equal Rights Amendment Rejected By DE State Senate

A state Senate vote on a proposed equal rights amendment to the Delaware Constitution is leaving equal rights activists disappointed.  The bill was defeated yesterday.  The legislation would have added this line to the Delaware Constitution: "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged on account of the sex of the person."  Some lawmakers raised concerns about the bill possibly leading to co-ed prisons and mandatory state funding for abortions.
