Phone Scam In Sussex County

(Georgetown, DE)  --  The Sussex County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a phone scam.  They say callers are posing as a sheriff's deputy and telling people they've missed a court appearance and that a warrant is out for their arrest.  Victims are being told to send a prepaid gift card to avoid being arrested.  The sheriff's department wants to remind everyone that deputies never use phone or email to collect funds.  They added that any subpoenas or other court-related documents will always be delivered in person.
